FOX News

I sat on a panel today for the FOX News channel's 5PM show, "The Big Story with John Gibson." (The panel consisted of me, Douglas Rushkoff and a charming guy named Eduardo whose last name I don't remember.) We were discussing the California gubernatorial campaigns, celebrity and otherwise, and John Gibson (the anchor) actually lamented the fact that there were no good career politicians left in the Republican Party.

He knowingly and willingly used the phrase "career politicians." So I pointed out that a long line of Republican career politicians were likely reponsible for the exact set of conditions under which people like Ah-nold and Ah-rianna are viable candidates.

But I didn't get to finish my sentence because he cut me off. Bill O'Reilly style.

I feel like I've officially earned my liberal stripes.

As I was nodding off for a nap with Fox News turned on, I could have *sworn* that I heard Gibson say "Elizabeth Spiers." But by the time I turned my face towards the TV, it had already gone to commercial.

cause i didn't see the gibson one, i saw you on there, i think. at the end he thanked 'elizabeth spiers' and i'm like, 'uh...who is that... oh yeah! it's that chick's blog that i checked out for the first time just two days ago! could that be her??"

i figgered it was. since you seem all erudite and shit.

i didn't even get to check out how hot you were.

Ugh, Gibson. I did a segment with him once, and could not take my eyes off of how badly his pancake makeup was done...he's sort of sickly pale and trying very hard to be O'Reilly...and yes, you've earned your stripes.

liz - i was more impressed by the hair--an astoundingly solid bouffant. anthony - no tape, i'm afraid. i actually thought i was sitting on a panel for *local* FOX news when they called me. ah well. wasn't that memorable.
