O'Reilly Pt. II

The day after I wrote my Bill O'Reilly/Jack Shafer post, I met Bill O'Reilly at a party. Peter Jennings' 20th anniversary party, to be specific. Jennings was charming, aside from calling my alma mater "that WASPy school in the South" and O'Reilly was... O'Reilly. Here's what happened (second item).

I have a mental image of a very nervous waiter, gripped vice-like by the forearm as Bill indignantly hoovers up his try of cocktail weiners by the fistful, complaining in between mouthfuls that "dere's nuthn' to eat in this fuckn' place", while spraying you with pink, cocktail weiner-laden spittle as he shouts answers to his questions.

Bill O'Reilly used to host Inside Edition, right? Circa 93 or 94, wasn't he just an older, shorter, uglier John Tesh?

hey i remember when he hosted an afternoon talk show, kind of like the today show, back in Boston in the '70s. Oh yes, he did cooking segments he did. You could look it up.

from the item you linked to, it sounds like O'Lie-ly has read Franken's book (in which Franken avers that he "got in trouble" for using the Shorenstein letterhead. Great prank, though!

I swear I had something witty to say about this, but after reading dong resin's comment, I completely forgot what it was.

And I have to have my chair reupholstered.
